PHOTOBOOTHS IN MOVIES & TV

The Passing

John Huckert (U.S., 1985, 96 min.)

This obscure sci-fi tale tells the story of Ernie and Leviticus, two World War Two buddies who live together. Ernie becomes the subject of an experiment in which his deteriorating body parts are swapped out for those of a death row convict, but when he returns to visit his buddy, Leviticus doesn't recognize him.

Before the transformation, the two of them take a strip of photos together in a booth in a 7-Eleven. When he returns in a new body, Ernie takes a photo in a Polaroid Face Place booth - two photobooths in one movie! - and seems saddened by the contrast he sees.
