PHOTOBOOTHS IN MOVIES & TV

Le jour se lève

Marcel Carné (France, 1939, 93 min.)

This classic of French cinema, told mostly in flashback, stars Jean Gabin and Arletty. Francois (Gabin) visits Francoise (Arletty), where he sees a photostrip of himself stuck in her mirror. Later on, as he barricades himself in his apartment, he catches a glimpse of his strip of her, hanging in his armoire next to his tie.

The film was remade as The Long Night; the filmmakers even carried over this film's photostrip appearance.
