PHOTOBOOTHS IN MOVIES & TV

Samson

Maurice Tourneur (France, 1936, 90 min.)

Thanks to Les Matons for tipping us off to this film, the first film released in the 1930s in our listings. The film has three separate photobooth sequences in which the Photomaton attendant walks her customers through the photo-taking process.

The strips arrive from the other side of the machine, and seem to show six poses rather than four, the number that became common later on in the development of the technology.
